New Accessible Ramp Project

We’re stepping up so you don’t have to.

Our Parish Hall is a beautiful, spacious facility, centrally located in downtown Bancroft with a newly renovated commercial kitchen upstairs, and meeting rooms downstairs.

In our Parish Hall:

· we serve a low-cost hot lunch to the whole community every week.   We also cater monthly delicious meals and social events for seniors.

· we prepare desserts for Meals on Wheels and raise money for local food banks.

· we facilitate collaboration among community groups and services to help and feed the vulnerable members of our society.

· we share our space – another church worships here, an weekly indigenous foot clinic operates here, a children’s camp meets here, and a handbell choir practice and play here.

In fact, our hall is one of very few places in our area available to community members for meetings and events.

Today, we have a dream. We want our building to grow into a bigger and better community hub for all kinds of groups to use. We want our building to be “home” for many different people.

But we have one big problem—

Accessibility

Everyone who wants to, should be able take advantage of the services and events that take place in our facility.

Unfortunately, the ramp and steps that lead up into the hall are over forty years old. The cement is crumbling in some places, and the ramp no longer meets 21st century accessibility standards.

So, we are planning a major renovation.

Here’s the plan:

• We want to move the steps inside where they’ll be safe from snow and ice in the winter.

• We want to install an elevator at street level that will go up to the main hall, and down to the lower hall.

• We want our whole building to be available to our community.

We have an engineer’s drawing in place, and we are ready to seek quotes from local contractors. The next step after that is to apply for grants and find funding for our project.

We are hoping to begin construction in 2025.  For more information on how you can help us with this community project, please contact Your Anglican Parish – North Hastings at (613) 332-3662 or send us an email at anglicanparishnh@gmail.com.
