A “REACHING HANDS” Presentation

Adults:

  • Congregational fellowship is held after each service at Holy Trinity, Maynooth
  • Congregational lunch is held after services at St. John’s, Bancroft
  • We have an active ACW ( Anglican Church Workers ) group at St. John’s, Bancroft

Children and Youth: 

Currently no Sunday School in either church

Worship and Pastoral Care:

  • Sunday services:  Holy Trinity, Maynooth at 9 a.m. and St. John’s, Bancroft at 11 a.m.
  • Mid-week services: Hastings Centennial Manor, Bancroft ( first Wednesday of the month, in the Chapel at 11 a.m. ) and Riverstone Retirement Residence, Bancroft (  first, third and fifth  Thursdays of each month, in the downstairs Activity Room at 10 a.m. )
  • Sacraments: Baptisms, Confirmations, Marriages, Memorial Services,  Eucharists/Holy Communion
  • Morning Prayer, scheduled Evening Prayer,  Special Lenten and Holy Week devotions as well as Special Christmas and Easter services
  • Ecumenical Services  (World Day of Prayer service participation in Bancroft and Maynooth, Decoration Day at Emmanuel Cemetery in Maynooth )
  • after church light refreshments or luncheons
  • Teaching ministries: Lay Readers, Chalice Bearers and Acolytes plus many summer Divinity students
  • We have 5 cemeteries to serve our communities, including a Parish of North Hastings columbarium ( 2012 ) to serve members of any Christian faith or no faith
  • Pastoral: visiting and care-giving, personal notes, counseling
  • Tuesday Community lunches – have served over 50,000 lunches in 12 years -

Community Outreach Programs:

Parish of North Hastings Outreach ( programs at Holy Trinity and St. John’s ):

  • frequent contributions to community Food Banks
  • prayer shawls for the ill and the elderly
  • traditional Seder supper held to mark Maundy Thursday in Holy Week
  • financial support to Parish Reaching Hands Committee ( local,  national and global outreach )
  • use of facilities for community organizations and individuals ( weddings, anniversary celebrations, retirement gatherings, birthday parties,  family reunions, Christmas get-togethers, annual meetings,  etc. )
  • catering for funeral luncheons
  • bake sales, yard sales and book sales in Bancroft and Maynooth
  • host birthday parties at Hastings Centennial Manor ( St. John’s hosts in April and Holy Trinity hosts in July each year )
  • Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes donated yearly

Holy Trinity Outreach:  ( Maynooth area )

  • home of the Maynooth Food Bank
  • emergency food supply and quilts for fire victims
  • Spring  ham and bean supper
  • Bake sale and Silent Auction
  • Summertime Afternoon tea
  • Maynooth Madness food service
  • Fall Harvest supper
  • Christmas hampers and fruit baskets prepared and delivered ( partnership with other local churches )

St.  John’s Outreach:  ( Bancroft area )

  • Tuesday Community lunches – have served over 50,000 lunches in 12 years  - Sept. 18, 2018 – June 18, 2019
  • Libbie’s singers – meets  to sing at Manor  for physical and spiritual healing
  • Hall available to Weight Watchers for meetings and the Joyful Ringers ( North Hastings Hand Bell Choir ) for rehearsals
  • Coordinate the Bancroft Community Disaster Response
  • Summer cooling station in Bancroft
  • Gemboree breakfasts (3) & Italian theme dinner – support this annual community event
  • Shrove Tuesday Pancake supper as well as Chicken & Rib dinners
  • Trivia Night – night of fun and fellowship that is open to everyone ( 2018:  proceeds were donated to Social Justice Without Borders,  in support of the locally sponsored Syrian refugee family and support  for the North Hastings Community Trust )
  • Mitten tree – supply mittens provided to local schools
  • ACW bazaar  with lunch and Loonie Auction

Outreach Programs Farther Afield

  • Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund contributions, Seafarer’s Mission,
  • Reaching Hands support for Christian Children’s Fund in Ghana, Christmas boxes
