The Church of the “Your Anglican Church” in the Parish of North Hastings is part of the worldwide communion of Anglican/Episcopal churches and is directly associated with the Diocese of Ontario.
With 2 churches (St John the Evangelist in Bancroft and The Church of the Holy Trinity in Maynooth), we serve the communities north of Hwy 7. We are bounded on the east by the Diocese of Ottawa and on the west by the Diocese of Toronto.
The parish was founded in 1886. Holy Trinity, Maynooth, celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2013. St John’s, Bancroft, celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2014. St. John’s is said to have the finest stained glass collection north of Toronto. Located in Holy Trinity is a lovely stained glass tribute to Eunice Williams, the organist at the church for 50 years (1949 – 1999 ). Our churches are small, intimate and filled with history. The congregations are warm and inviting, making our many visitors welcome. Sunday services are followed by light refreshments or lunch and time of fellowship.
We take pride in being ‘present in our community’ by founding and sponsoring the Tuesday Community Lunch in Bancroft; offering worship services at the Riverstone Retirement Residence on the first, third and — when applicable – the fifth Thursday of each month; offering a Eucharist service at Hastings Centennial Manor in Bancroft the first Wednesday of each month; housing the Maynooth Food Bank; hosting community dinners throughout the year; knitting prayer shawls and mittens; offering our parish halls for community organizations to meet; and co-ordinating the Bancroft Disaster Response program.
